Tip Top Table Sale tomorrow

After an exciting and eventful holiday, it’s rather relaxing to be back home, making felt and embroidery. Tomorrow I’ll be back at the Tip Top Table Sale at the White Lion in Streatham, 12-5pm. I’ve made some more felt purses, and some larger eyeglass cases for those who like the Jackie O/Victoria Beckham big frames.

It’s a very friendly crowd – and free! As well as crafts, cosmetics and jewellery, there are also delicious cakes and second-hand clothes. And it raises money for charity. So come and say hello tomorrow!

Successful Tip Top Table Sale

The first ever Tip Top Table Sale in the White Lion in Streatham got off to a quiet start. The space, a long low room with a wooden floor and windows along one side, was rather nice, and there were also a couple of tables in the courtyard outside. It was an interesting mix of stalls, from cakes and jewellery to crafts, cosmetics and second-hand clothes and shoes – everyone was very friendly.

We were starting to wonder whether we could pipe in some music to liven the place up a bit. But then Ms Tip Top (aka Joyce) and her friends stood outside the pub madly handing out flyers, encouraging people to come in. And it worked – for me, anyway. I sold some eyeglass cases, a felt purse and a felt starfish. And I also got a commission for an eyeglass case from one of the other stallholders – thank you Maria of Plastic Seconds!

The sale will be held every Sunday from now on. I hope it succeeds – it’s a nice atmosphere and raises money for the Music4Children charity as well. Plus the stallholders all got delicious cake at the end from Cakings. What more could we ask for?!

First Tip Top Table Sale

After a short break over Easter, I’ve finally got round to finishing some bits and pieces ready for the first Tip Top Table Sale at the White Lion in Streatham tomorrow.

I attached the handle to the first bag I made and sewed on a felt ball as a fastener.

I also sewed a button I bought from Liberty onto a small felt purse decorated with strands of yarn.

Finally, I made a few smaller scarves without the shibori pleating so I can start at a lower price range. I like these so much myself I’ve been wearing one all weekend!

So if you’re around Streatham tomorrow, come along to the White Lion and say hello. There will be cake, cosmetics and jewellery – and some of the sale proceeds go to charity. What’s not to like?
